Legends Rise: A tradition between Texas State University Campus San Marcos and Campus Querétaro

Football once again became a meeting point between Mexico and the United States.

On August 5th, the Bobcats of Texas State University Campus San Marcos and Texas State University Campus Querétaro met at the Elisia Education Hub facilities to compete in the second edition of Legends Rise, the now classic international women’s soccer game that means so much more than just 90 minutes of play.

Beyond the score, the match allowed students from both campuses to compete, socialize, and share experiences, strengthening a tradition that connects sports with a truly international university experience.

Competing is also a way of learning

For the players from Texas State University Campus Querétaro, facing another American university team represented an opportunity to measure their competitive level, strengthen their confidence, and continue growing as student-athletes.

Legends Rise brings participants closer to international scenarios where skills such as leadership, collaboration, and adaptation are developed through real experiences.

A community that crosses borders

Legends Rise did not begin or end with the final whistle. During their stay in Queretaro, the students from both campuses participated in integration and cultural exchange activities, toured the campus, and had opportunities to socialize outside of the playing field.

These experiences allowed them to learn about other perspectives, share what it means to be a student on each campus, and create relationships that transcend sports competition.

For the sports programs at both campuses, Legends Rise has become an opportunity to create international experiences around sports and strengthen the relationship between their communities.
